passion for fashion

There is a certain cliche that people who love fashion are shallow and vapid. I would beg to differ.

Just like anything else in this world, people all have different passions in life. That's why there are a lot of different industries in this world - be it showbiz, healthcare, information technology, or business. Fashion is an industry as well and people in this industry just happen to love dressing up. These industries are there for each individual to belong - to find where his passion belongs.

Passions in life need an outlet and should be expressed. Every person needs this outlet to show the world his individuality. Each person is good at something. For people who love fashion, they are good in dressing up and they love to show it off - not much of a difference from anybody else who's good at something and is very proud of it.

Why put a certain stigma on a certain passion?

I was having a conversation with Pax yesterday about the just recent Bloggers United event and she told me that someone has tweeted that the event was just another reason for a fashion show unlike blogger events elsewhere in the world which protests for change. This is just too assuming.

The Bloggers United event was for a good cause - a worthy cause. Proceeds of the event went to KIDS Foundation. In fact, attendees were encouraged to bring books, school supplies, or any educational material for kids. KIDS Foundation had representatives during the event. This cause was actually the main drive behind the event. The gathering between bloggers and readers just came with it naturally. It was the means to the worthy end. Looking at it in a different perspective, it's basically just like a benefit concert of singers, a fund raiser of painters, or a dance gala of dancers. Again, why the certain stigma?

Fashionable people are more than what meets the eye. In fact, so much more that what you'd actually expect.
