perfect boots

Ever since late last year, I've been in search for the perfect pair of boots. I've scoured almost all the malls in the metro but to no avail. I was off for a trip to Hong Kong with some friends over a weekend back then and I have always wanted to pull off a certain New York look. You see, when I was in New York, I would always see guys in the metro rail wearing a beanie, a neutral colored shirt under a black trench/pea coat paired with dark slim trousers with the hems worn inside the boots during the beginning of winter season. It was like a uniform. The look was everywhere in fact. As much as I'd want to buy clothes in NYC, I cant afford to. I was stuck with what I brought with me. I wouldn't say I looked bad but I really wanted "that" look.

Anyway, we went to HK last January. Winter - perfect I thought! Finally, I had the chance to pull off my NYC look. One by one I started to collect my ensemble. I was pretty much able to gather everything except for one thing - the BOOTS! Philippines being a tropical country, boots for men are rarely sold. I searched everywhere but I always ended up frustrated. My friend suggested one last resort - that I buy military boots instead. I dreaded the idea but I had no choice. I suddenly remembered that during PFW last year, some designers paired military boots with their looks in the runway. I thought this as a consolation and considered that I could pull it off. So, I went to one of the military supply shops infront of Aguinaldo in Santolan, Cubao and got myself some tough lovin' military boots.

So this was how i looked:

coat - Zara
pants - Zara
shirt (gray) - H&M
shirt (white) - Topman
beanie - SM
boots - Military Boots (?)

I had to come up with another look for the next day and this is what I came up with. I didn't want to look literally the same the next day so I had to do some mixing:

coat - Zara
beanie - 21Men
shirt (white) - H&M
shirt (black) - 21Men
waistcoat - Onesimus
pants - Topman
boots - Military Boots (?)

Fast forward to the present, I was at the mall the other day after work and lo and behold - THE PERFECT BOOTS! I definitely would not pass on the chance being given to me. The boots just had to be mine!

  3. AWESOME BOOTS! Ever since I can remember, I have always been fascinated by boots and want to wear boots...FOREVER! LOL. Unfortunately our climate here in the Philippines is not conducive to boots.. Now that the rainy season is more or less here to stay, we can start wearing boots again. Hehe. Wear it on Friday even though it doesn't rain! It deserves to be worn!
