Apart from making sure that it delivers compelling lifestyle products, Bratpack also communicates with its audience by playing an active role in tapping their creative potential. One such effort is the Bratpack Remix Program, the brand’s platform for visual arts. Over the years, the creative program seeks to collaborate with young Filipino artists and designers to give the scene a boost. The items and customized merchandise that result from the partnership are then featured and sold in selected Bratpack stores.

On June 30, Bratpack launched another installment of the Bratpack Remix Program as it affirms its commitment in supporting and strengthening the local art scene. Staying true to its philosophy “Inspire. Interpret. Express” Bratpack solicited the talents of four of the country’s top visual artists to come up with designs for a swanky set of patches and pins – the Artist Series.

Through the patches and pins, customers are invited to express themselves by selecting among the artists’ work, and personalizing their backpacks, among other things, resulting in a unique collaboration not only between Bratpack and the artists, but the customers as well.

Diverse and captivating, Bratpack chose a crop of artists that can translate inspiring advocacies into wonderful works of art. First up is the “Day Dream Express” by Anjo Bolarda. According to Anjo, great things start with dreams. Being the ones who usually day dream, the artist came up with designs and random patterns aimed at young-year-olds to encourage them to practice their creativity and imagination based on the abstract works of art. Through day dreams, people are able to travel to creative realms in a “vehicle” of their own making, says Anjo, hence the artwork’s title.

JP Cuison’s designs also involve a lot of input from the audience. Titled “The Artist”, it tackles how an artist’s piece is only finished until the viewer mentally or physically interacts with it. Given the collaboration with the customer, the placement of the patches and pins will be the final expression and completion of his art.

Delving deep into the theme of this year’s Bratpack Remix Program, Celina De Guzman focused on creative freedom by coming up with illustrations that incorporate symbolisms to highlight the concepts of inspiration, interpretation and expression. Entitled “Freedom,” through the use of birds and fishes, flowers and puzzle pieces, Cee instills the ideas of freedom of expression, of thought, and our capabilities to spread ideas, good vibes, and positive energy.

Tapping into the psyche of females, Lala Gallardo thought of a concept that would inspire and empower young women. As a result, Lala conjured modern interpretations of mythical Greek goddesses of the arts or the Muses. Through her design collection, “Deities,” she depicted the Muses as young women with their powers representing the potential that all women possess. Ultimately, Lala wants young females to see themselves as talented, brave, and strong. Further on, she wishes them to acknowledge themselves and their fellow women as Deities.
