Cheap Monday Vignette Caravan

A few weeks back, I was asked by Cheap Monday to design a canvas bag for them to be part of the Cheap Monday Vignette Caravan display. The Cheap Monday Vignette Caravan, in coordination with Sharpie Permanent Markers and DIRE HUSI Initiatives Inc., is a celebration of art and promotion of creative expression through an engaging and interactive series of fun activities mobilized through several mall stops, which will center on a canvas bag designing activity. People are invited to purchase their very own Cheap Monday canvas bag to design and personalize. The proceeds of this event will go to DIRE HUSI Initiatives Inc., a youth organization and creative social enterprise from Mindanao that serves as an artisan collective, a band of world musicians, and as advocates of fair trade.

If there's one thing I enjoy doing, that would be DIY projects! I was given one full day to finish my canvas bag and I didn't waste a single minute of it. First thing that came to my mind when I saw the bag with the Cheap Monday logo were roses and thorns . I immediately did a digital sketch of what I wanted the bag to look like and started designing the bag right after. I used the provided Sharpie markers to make my design. I also embroidered the whole outline of my design on the canvas bag just to give it dimension and texture.

The Cheap Monday Vignette caravan has been to Alabang Town Center already last June 15 -16. Next stop would be on Trinoma this coming weekend, June 29-30, and then to Greenbelt 5 on July 12-14. Final leg will be held in Abreeza mall in Davao on July 27-28. The bag I made, together with the other bags used for the display, will be auctioned to benefit DIRE HUSI Initiatives Inc.
