Yesterday, I was invited by the good folks of Axe to experience The Axe Barbershop to do some sampling of some Axe scents and to try out the services of Felipe and Sons. The Axe Barbershop was held at Felipe and Sons Barberdashery in Makati.

The Axe Barbershop was made to sample Axe scents and to experience the Axe effect firsthand. Through time, when a scent is sprayed, it evaporates and the scent changes over time. The scent unravels into top notes, middle notes, and base notes. Just like perfume, Axe scents basically have all three integral layers. I must say, Axe has now evolved from your simple deo body spray into a hybrid perfume. Not only does it prevent you from smelling "un-fresh", it also makes you smelling like you just stepped out of a shower all the time.

Axe scents were sprayed on the capes used by the barbers of Felipe and Sons. This was how we sampled the scents as we underwent the services of our liking offered by Felipe and Sons. The place was an olfactory treat. I had the Luxury Shave done and I must say, it was a luxury shave indeed. At home, it only takes me about 15 minutes to shave - wash face, apply shaving cream, shave, and then apply after-shave. I thought I was meticulous already with my shaving routine. At Felipe and Sons, it took about an hour and a half to shave my facial hair. Initially, they clipped my mustache and beard with a clipper to make them short. Then, it was a facial treat from then on. They exfoliated the skin, massaged my face, applied hot towel on my face, put shaving cream, then razored the hair, applied balm, applied hot towel again, massaged my face again, put shaving cream again, razored what remaining hair was left, applied balm, applied cold towel this time, given arm and hand massage, and ended with a really good back massage. I was in and out of dreamland the whole time. Hahaha.

Felipe and Sons Barberdashery is a gentleman's club and lounge. It is both a barbershop and a haberdashery at the same time, thus the name barberdashery. Also, they offer all sorts of beverages and they also have bottlekeep service. Yes, they serve manly alcoholic drinks. Beat that!
